JGI Provides Job Shadowing Opportunities to High School Students
Renaissance Global Logistics, a JGI company, hosted 15 students from Crocket Technical High School, a Detroit Public School, for a day of job shadowing in February 2009. Activities included job shadowing with staff and an address by JGI CEO, John A. James.

Coleman A. Young Foundation
John James, a strong advocate of education, continues to work with the Coleman A. Young Foundation as he has done for years. James Group contributes to the Coleman A. Young Scholars Program whose purpose is to provide funding to assist those who may not have the means to go to college. The program has enabled hundreds of youth to attend the college or university of their choice.

The DeWayne Hayes Foundation - Back to school with new supplies
This year the DeWayne Hayes Foundation and James Group International teamed up to provide children of James Group employees with new school supplies and backpacks. Twenty-six backpacks were stuffed and gifted to employees to give to their children in order to start the school year off right.

Breast Cancer Walk
The James Group Walkers would like to thank JGI and RGL for making a generous contribution to their five-mile walk on Belle Isle on October 18, 2009. Special thanks go to everyone who participated in ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’ and everyone who helped raise $1,000 for the cause. Thank you to participants Ronald Butler, Bernice Jones and family, Catalina Arias, San Juana Garcia, Carlota Garza and family, Crystal Williams, Maria Rodriguez and family/friend, Leontyne Paige and family, Mirthala Moreno, Maria Calderon, Natasha Powell and family, Serena Levy, and Mary Stokes and family.

Angel’s Night
James Group supported ‘Angel’s Night’ which was created in 1995 by Detroit city officials and police. Every year around October 29-31, as many as 50,000 volunteers from the surrounding community patrol the streets and watch their neighborhoods in order to prevent mischief around and on Halloween.

YMCA
James Group supported the Detroit YMCA by contributing a yearly gift to their programs for inter-city youth. The programs provide food, clothing, housing and job search assistance to homeless people. The programs also provide daycare for low-income families with children and after-school activities for at-risk youth.
